United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan presented President Donald Trump with the Order of Zayed, the highest civilian honor, Thursday.
Upon presentation, it was announced that the award was given to Trump for his “exceptional efforts to strengthen the long-standing ties of friendship and strategic partnership” between the two countries.
“This partnership has taken a significant leap forward since you assumed office,” Al Nahyan told Trump before the honor was announced.
Al Nahyan said the UAE’s plan to invest $1.4 trillion in America over the next 10 years is a “testament” to the progress Trump has made in fields such as the economy, energy, artificial intelligence, and industry. (RELATED: Saudis Roll Out Mobile McDonald’s Truck To Welcome Trump For State Visit)
“We are keen to continue deepening this friendship for the benefit of both our nations and peoples,” Al Nahyan said.
Trump thanked Al Nahyan and called him a “great warrior” and a “man of vision like few others.”
Trump then said he had “absolutely no doubt” that the relationship between the UAE and the U.S. would get better.
Trump explained that the U.S. is a “very hot country” after his inauguration. He shared his record enlistment numbers, investments in the U.S. from foreign businesses, and even the hundreds of thousands of eggs purchased for the White House Easter egg roll.
The administration is “far ahead of schedule” and “if you had told me these numbers in a year, or a year and a half from now, I would have been very happy with them,” Trump said.
The bestowing happened during Trump’s tour of the Middle East and after he visited Qatar and Saudi Arabia, where he met and negotiated with many world leaders from the region.
